Merrell
About Merrell
Merrell is an outdoor footwear brand whose story began with a custom cowboy boot maker in Utah, Randy Merrell, who turned his highly skilled hand to crafting hiking boots he couldn't find on the market. In 1981 he teamed up with Clark Matis and John Schweizer, two executives from the Rossignol ski company, and together they set out to design a more affordable model of high-performance hiking boot.
The brand's first products reached the market in 1983, and early models like the Wilderness boot set the tone for Merrell's commitment to performance, quality, and innovation. Over the years the company introduced groundbreaking designs, from the Eagle, which combined running shoe performance with backcountry utility, to the Jungle Moc and the Moab hiking boot.
Since 1997, Merrell has been a wholly owned subsidiary of Wolverine World Wide. Today the brand is a global leader in outdoor active footwear, focused on merging performance, styling, and comfort to empower all people to confidently explore the outdoors.
